Cosmetic plastic surgery and injectibles have come a long way! So has society’s view of these specialty procedures as ‘taboo’ and ‘plastic’ looking. At Toronto’s Elements Spa, we want you to know that our goal with any procedure is to enhance, restore, and rejuvenate with results that are conservative and natural-looking. We want all of our patients to walk out of our office feeling like themselves, only better! In this article, we’ll be discussing some common concerns our patients have, and various options in addressing them (both surgical and nonsurgical).

Before undergoing any type of procedure, please make certain that the injector or plastic surgeon is certified, professional and experienced. For years, board-certified cosmetic plastic surgeon Dr. Adibfar, and his team of medically-trained technicians, have been providing exceptional results with safety as the utmost priority. Let’s take a closer look at patients’ common problem areas and how they’re treated at Toronto’s Elements Spa!

Under Eyes

Correcting the under-eye area can come in the form of a variety of treatments, and the results usually lend a look that always looks more youthful and rejuvenated. The eyelids require an astute awareness to the area’s intricate anatomy. Common under eye issues we typically see are: dark circles, excess fat deposits, bulges, bags and loose skin.

Treating excess fat and skin deposits can be done surgically from inside the lower eyelid, which results in an incision inside the lower eyelid with no visible scar. The fat can be removed via electrocautery to minimize any bleeding or swelling during surgery. The excess fat may be repositioned and/or removed. Dark circles and hallows may also require fast transfer to fill any hallowing, while lasers can be used to resurface the quality of the skin around the eye by tightening the area and reducing any wrinkles and fine lines.

The Cheeks

Patients concerned with their cheeks often complain about their face looking hallow and lacking in volume, making them look years older than their real age. Depending on the patient’s age and concerns, there are numerous safe and effective procedures to address this area of the face.

Some may find the Liquid Facelift more effective, opting for hyaluronic acid dermal fillers and botox to bring more volume and youthfulness to the face while decreasing the intensity of any deep creases and folds. Dr. Adibfar uses a blunt cannula to safely inject filler and add just the right amount of volume to restore the cheekbones and replenish any depleted areas.

Cheek implants can also be used for those who require more structure and lift. Dr. Adibfar molds individually customized cheek implants to effectively give patients more structure and lift while still looking natural and providing a more permanent solution to injectibles.

Lip Volume

Many women and men desire a full lip that looks more natural. This is achieved via hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. Depending on the natural shape of the lip and where the lip is lacking volume, Dr. Adibfar carefully threads the filler using a cannula, achieving results that are subtle and natural looking. This lip enhancement procedure may also include injecting filler outside the top of the lip and along the grove to the nose for more definition. Dr. Adibfar is conservative in using lip fillers as he wants his patients to achieve their desired look without looking overdone.

Did you know that lip fillers are also reversible? It’s great to know that should you change your mind and prefer your more natural original shape, you could easily have the filler dissolved without any complications.

Double Chin

If you feel embarrassed or annoyed with the excess skin and fat hiding under your chin, then you’ll be happy to know that there are many options that address this pesky area! A double chin and fullness of the neck can relay poor definition to the lower third of the face and jawline. The 3 more common ways of addressing this area are either via liposuction, Kybella or Cool Sculpting.

Traditional liposuction involves surgically removing the excess fat and/or skin. This would require a bit more downtime as the incision and swelling heals, however provides phenomenal permanent results. Kybella is an injectible medicine administered under the chin to permanently destroy fat cells, which are then naturally eliminated through the body. Cool Sculpting essentially freezes the fat cells which are then massaged and slowly pass through the lymphatic system and exit your body over the period of approximately 12 weeks. This may require several treatments however works great for those who do not have excess skin.
