Male to female transexual patients undergoing long term hormone therapy will on average develop A-cup sized breasts. Breast augmentation is an option for individuals looking to achieve a larger breast size. It is a surgical procedure where an implant (prosthesis) is inserted under the existing breast. Depending on the implant size, an incision is made in the crease under the breast or under the armpit.
When receiving breast augmentation, there are a number of options to consider. The benefits of each option are unique to each individual and Dr. Adibfar shares his knowledge and experience to empower his patients to make the ideal choice.
Options for breast augmentation include:
- Saline vs. silicone
- Round vs. teardrop
- Smooth vs. textured
- Profile — low, moderate or high
- Incision location — sub-mammary, infra-areolar, auxiliary, peri-sumblicial or transumbilical
Breast augmentation surgery is performed on an outpatient basis at a private state of the art surgical suite. Local or general anesthesia may be used. The surgery takes about an hour followed by a few hours of rest in the recovery room. At this point, the patient is discharged and should be fit to return home. For an additional cost, the patient can opt to stay in our overnight room.
